Good food, great vibe. Been here about a dozen times and always pleased. Pork cubano is delicious, though understandably greasy. Flatbreads are ok. Not the best I've ever had but passable with a beverage after a long day of work. Service has always been personable and great. Looking forward to their expansions of a wine bar and charcuterie.

We have been to Isidores now three times. The first two times were great; the third time definitely not a charm. Arrived just before 7:00PM this Saturday. It was not too crowded yet and we opted for a high top in the mix of the restaurant and bar. It took over 15 minutes to get noticed and place our drink order, then another 10 minutes to get in the app order which is okay. We then had to wait again to place our dinner order and then wait again for a very long period of time to get our check. Get the message? The food is really good but the service is horrendous. I felt for the bartender, not only does he have to get the drinks out to the bar and high-tops but he has to get them out to the waitress's and then had to cater to the high-tops. It is not a big place, but it is a favorite among locals, you would think they would bring an additional one or two waitress in on a Saturday night, nope. One waitress, one hostess (by the way is really rude) and one poor suffering bartender. All the while I am observing the owner chef sharing a drink with a patron at the bar. The poor couple next to us that came in about 5 minutes after got up and left because no one would serve them after waiting almost 20 minutes. The food is well done, I enjoyed the Pork Cubano and my better half really liked her cocktail and swordfish BLT. However the endless waiting and trying to get noticed was beyond frustrating. Sadly we are not returning for a while to Isidores at least not on a weekend night. They may have an awesome menu and crank out some killer dishes & cocktails but thier service leaves a lot to be desired.

"Meh. I've experienced better" sums Isidore up quite nicely. I was really hoping this place would be great. Limited seating, no parking, brick oven fire smoked up the entire restaurant, and we left smelling like a BBQ. Tables are quite close together & the room got noisy quickly. Food was pretty decent--staff willing to accommodate menu substitutions, but forgot our drink orders. Overall strange atmosphere and absent minded waitstaff, but interesting menu.

Honestly all the food we have had here since it has opened has been great. Excellent drinks! The crab ragoons are fantastic as is the calamari. The lobster Mac and cheese they have sometimes is to die for. However.... You may die waiting. The service has consistently gone down hill I don't know if it is understaffed or just a complete lack of skilled servers. If this were fixed it would be an automatic 5 stars.

Isidore's has become our weekly ritual. Great food and great service. Prices are reasonable and we've never been disappointed.

We love this place. I believe it's a hidden gem and am grateful that we found it while driving by one night. They have delicious flatbread and great service. Been back a handful of times and it's very consistent. The atmosphere feels like it should be downtown Portsmouth and is a nice place for a date night. Some of the items on the menu are a bit pricy but worth every bite!

very good haddock piccata. better than jumpin jays. best when the owner is there cooking. inconsistent with the other chefs.

Terrific meal, excellent staff. Also desserts feel like an afterthought at most restaurants like this, but I really felt like Isidore did a nice job on their menu. I had the creme brule and it was so good (also, nice presentation). On a Monday night, not real busy either and free parking, so I think it's a great alternative to heading into Portsmouth or Dover.

Had a great dinner last night at the Isidore. On Monday nights, they have a half-off flatbread dinner deal that is DEFINITELY worth it. I got the BBQ pulled pork one and my boyfriend got the Buffalo Chix. Both were delicious. Our server was great, too!

Drinks were great. Strawberry mojito and grape martini. Spring rolls were good. Flourless choc tart was yummy. Blueberry cheese cake and creme brulee were not so yum. Crust was dry on the cheese cake and was not sure where the blueberry part was. Creme brulee had a serious egg taste and was very burnt on the top, not carmalized. Shutting off lights and closing up while you still have customers 10 min before your advertised closing time? Def not good for biz. Not a place we will spend our money again. To bad it had promise, being so close to our family when we are in town made it easy.

We live in So. Berwick... Profile location needs to be updated. We decided to give Isidore a try for a Valentine's Day dinner. We believe in supporting our local businesses and we were excited to have a new restaurant in town! Unfortunately our experience started off bad and only got worse... We had made reservations 3 weeks in advance. However, when we arrived we were told by the greeter that they were full and that no tables were available. We told him that we had a reservation. After that exchange he took us over to a miniature high-top table that was crammed up against a wall. The adjacent tables were so close that we couldn't get into our chairs (we are NOT large people...) and there was a speaker right over our heads that was so loud that we couldn't hear each other. Here's the weird part... There were several tables in the restaurant that were empty! I finally went over and told the greeter that we would prefer to sit at one of the open tables for all of the above reasons. He spent 5 minutes in a whispered conversation with his manager and then begrudgingly took us to a new table. The food was ok... Definitely not good enough to remove the bad feelings we already had. Additionally, we were treated with disdain for the remainder of our visit. The manager went to every table to check with her customers... Except ours. And, those empty tables?... Most remained empty the entire time we were in the restaurant. We will not return to Isidore. There are much better options just a short drive away.

Update... Still tasty though and no complaints about the food or our server. I knocked 2 stars off because we were rushed out of there at 9:30 by someone who had been peeking around the corner at us for the last part of our meaI, (not our evening's server). After collectively dropping close to $200.- on food and drinks, my companions and I didn't appreciate being asked sternly if we would "like more drinks or anything" after we lingered 10 minutes after paying our bill ( and tipping over 20% I should add.) I'm leaving the three stars up because the food and service was good, again until the bar manager or owner who had nothing to do with us all night except peer around the corner at us made it clear that they wanted to close down. Weird. So yes, go, enjoy the great food, but be sure you are cleared out by 9 pm or they seem to start getting edgy. --------------------- Sadly I made the mistake of not saving my original review which stressed the deliciousness and high quality of the food we had eaten twice before. Also before, we had been a little hurried at 10 pm on a Saturday night, but paid no mind since the service and food were really great and this is a small little town.

Have only been here once. I would go again. Pros: cozy, knowledgeable staff, good drink options, amazing fries Cons: got a little too smoky because of brick oven, horrible draft everytime door was opened, while food was great it was quite heavy and greasy (made me feel sluggish all night).

came in with my sister a few weeks ago. we had a few beers, I had a burger, she got the salmon melt. it was good. Came in tonight with my bf. the bartender was super nice, the mixed drinks, not so much. They serve them in a 16oz glass with a 12 oz glass pour. I am a bartender and I know you make a heavier pour with a larger glass, they however, do not. The next drink I asked for a double, she said they didn't do that (house rules, I totally understand). I asked about one of their specialty drinks, I hate sweet drinks she said it wasn't super sweet, which it was - they didn't charge me for it which was really nice. We got the nachos - described with pico de gallo, bbq pulled pork, and peperoncini - we got 2 thin slices of the pepper half way through the nachos - and instead of pico de galllo we got a small amount of tomatoes (pico de gallo is usually tomatoes, onions, and chilis I believe) - there was about 2 ounces of pork - the rest was a small amount of bbq and sour cream, and 50% burnt chips. our bartender was awesome though, she kept checking in with us, made sure the food and drinks were okay - when I told her my drink was to sweet she fixed it immediately. I wish they would get 12oz glasses or allow a heavier pour - Its not about a strong drink its about the combo of the alcohol and the mix that makes it good - too much mix makes a drink not good. Between my 2 experiences I wouldn't go back for the mixed drinks or the apps. They just need to make a few small changes and this place would be a charm - until then ill stick to beer and burgers.

I really wanted to love this place, but found the inside to be very cold -- birght lighting, no tablecloths and a tile floor just didn't give me the cozy bistro/tavern feel I wanted. Had the chicken piccata which featured bone in chicken thighs. My first piece was very good. The second tasted like it had definitely been previously frozen. Still the first piece was good enough for me to truly enjoy the dish.

I've been to Isidore a few times now. It's a nice cozy restaurant downtown, helping to fill the void that Pepperland left across the street. Their beer selection is typically robust, and they usually have some seasonal nods on their cocktail list (but I find it hard to pass up their self-titled punch). I love their rangoons. As for the flatbreads, the buffalo gundalow is pretty good, but the Odd Fellows meat lovers is a bit bland despite all the meat. The chowder I cannot recommend-- just go to Portsmouth or York/Ogunquit for your chowder! Isidore's mussels are good, though. Tapas Night can offer some goodies as well, depending on the week's selection.

Monday half off flat bread deal was nice but without it the prices would definitely not be worth the quality. Service was poor. We had to wave down the waitress/bartender for everything even though the restaurant was virtually empty. Would probably not come back, despite being locals. There are other places nearby that have better service/quality for the price.

I have never walked away unhappy. So nice to have a spot like this in town! The drinks and servers are always great. It can get a bit loud some nights and newer seasonal items tend to be hit or miss. Stick with house favorites and ask the bartender for recommendations

We are Isi's regulars most Friday nights. This our home town tavern. We love the atmosphere and staff, excellent wine list, and good food to boot. The haddock piccata is a favorite. But often we simply get an assortment of apps. We're particularly fond of the crab Rangoon and chix wings. The fries are good, too. Miles is usually the guy behind the bar. He's the consummate host, and while we don't typically indulge in hard liquor, we understand the cocktails are all his inventions and offer an excellent variety, from dry to sweeter fare. You really can't beat Isidore's for all around quality in a dining out experience.

Half a dozen visits or so and we've never been disappointed. It's a warm and friendly spot with food and drink that inch above average. The crowd during our visits has generally been adult, but families are welcome and made to feel comfortable. It can get pretty loud, though, so slow nights might be better for young ones. Thumbs up to tonight's Woodsman and Open-face Steak Sandwich, but down to the creme brulee, which stayed under the fire a bit too long. Others at the table were satisfied, too.

6/10/14 Update: We still like Isidore but the pricing is too high at this point. The flatbread pizza is $17 for the Powerhouse BBQ. This is just too high of a price point for a downtown South Berwick restaurant. Dropping $50-$60 for Pizza and a drink for two is just out of line. We love Isidore! My wife loves the powder house BBQ flatbread on the summer menu. I love the Buffalo chicken flatbread. The owner (Rob) is very accommodating and has created a GREAT atmosphere, Very good drinks, Pricing is ok (Little high) The menu is limited, and they need to put the powerhouse BBQ flatbread on the menu full time. Staff is good. Its worth the trip !

I've been going to Isidore on the Rocks since it first opened. The food is delicious! Atmosphere is great and the design lay out is cool with the open ceiling and brick walls. My only wish ... the ventilation was better. It can fill up a bit with smoke from the grill and to remove the smoke it feels the AC is turned on. Normally I can handle it, tonight it was either too smokey or cold. BUT it's something that CAN be fixed and am sure they're working on.

I'd actually rate it a 4.5 if I could. All 7 people in my party were impressed with our meals. One person in my party asked for a specialty condiment that wasn't on their menu, although they surprised us by making it and bringing it out with our meal. I also had a separate experience where a friend and I stopped by for a cocktail. After attempting to open the locked front door we noticed that it wasn't scheduled to be open for another hour. As we walked away, we were pleasantly shocked when the owner unlocked the door and invited us in even though they were still getting set up for the day. 4.5 stars instead of 5 b/c our drink services was slow when out for dinner with the party of 7.

Loved the atmosphere here. Staff was great and so was the service. Was very surprised that the fish tacos I had had some of the best fish I have ever tasted. "Frites" were great as well! Will go again for sure!
